Öffentliche Lecture mit Elke van Campenhout (B) im Rahmen der Künstlerwerkstatt BODY TERRITORIES (Lab & Lecture), Teil VI 'Emotional Body'
In her approach of 'the emotional body', Elke van Campenhout (B) focusses on the relation between the performer and the spectator.
How does the performer/choreographer construct an 'emotional body', or in other words: what are the techniques used in contemporary dance to invoke the emotion-transfer from the body to the individual spectator.
Possible strategies used in the work of - between others - Meg Stuart, Lilia Mestre etc. is the construction of the 'scattered', the 'instable' or the 'out-of-time' body, each of which in their way construct a different way of making the spectator aware of the body-in-loss. Albeit of its own identity, completeness, or grip on the situation.
The emotional body is the body the spectator identifies with, without being able to 'embody' it.
